Eco-House
Location | Ramsbury, Wiltshire
Stage | Planning Approved
Located in the heart of Ramsbury’s conservation area, this contemporary dwelling strikes a balance between its modern design and its historical setting. The site is formed of a walled garden flanked with flint and brick, isolating it from neighbouring dwellings and the adjoining Holy Cross Church.
The building is set into the ground to form a stronger cohesion with the low-lying landscape, but also to void obstructing the views to and from the historic buildings that surround the site.

The entrance to the house is through a sunken courtyard to the north, providing access through an existing gateway in the garden walls. The house is spilt in the centre by the main hearth, with the more private bedrooms and a study to one side and open living spaces to the other.
