Zinc Architecture was founded in 2013 by Pierre du Toit, an architect from South Africa with 20 years of experience in the United Kingdom. He has been working in the capacity of an architect within across Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, Cotswolds, Worcestershire, West Midlands and Birmingham areas, but has also successfully completed building and other architectural projects in Yorkshire, Leeds, Harrogate, Paris and Munich.
Projects have ranged from exhibition stand designs for surfwear outfits, extensions, residential conversions, pub refurbishments, care village design and build to a number of large health centres, a church and an award winning multi-purpose hall. The Cobridge Community Health Centre, on which he was the design team lead and responsible for the architectural design, has recently won a RICS award.
As a registered architect in South Africa Pierre has acted as design architect and project manager on a new build safari lodge style house in Leopard Creek, near the Kruger National Park, Malelane Gate, as well as two private houses on golf estates in Pretoria.
Zinc specialise in the residential sector - primarily on one-off houses, apartment conversions, residential master planning and extensions.
We have a track record that demonstrates an understanding of the demands of modern construction in the areas of structure, building services, sustainability (through in depth experience of BREEAM and IES), planning and building regulations.
Working with clients such as the NHS, Mencap, St Richard’s Hospice, The Church of England and Birmingham Council we understand that decision making is never straightforward and organisations can be as eccentric as individuals but our design presentations have been useful tools negotiating these processes.
