The Old Vicarage

Location | Eckington, Worcestershire
Project Type |  Extension & Renovation
The Old Vicarage was, as the name suggests, built as the village vicarage that served the Holy Trinity Church, located a short walk away in the centre of Eckington. While there is evidence of a vicarage being on the site since the 16th century, the current iteration was built in the 1830s and has been extended and altered many times over the years.
Zinc was asked to design an extension that both, sat comfortable alongside the characterful Vicarage dwelling, but also created a contemporary addition that made full use of the houses beautiful garden views. The proposed extension features a modern design language that can be traced directly from classical architectural forms and uniformity. The order of the Old Vicarage’s Georgian frontage is respected by the design of the proposed
extension.
Renovation:
Zinc was employed not only to work on an extension for the house but also its renovations and repairs to help preserve and modernise this heritage asset for another generation. The property whilst not listed is of key local significance so any alterations and renovations were balanced against both the client’s needs and protecting the houses original fabric.  Not of the original internal elements remained since the property had gone through a few surface level renovations in the past.
